“Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Someday, somewhere — anywhere, unfailingly, you’ll find yourself, and that, and only that, can be the happiest or bitterest hour of your life.” — Pablo Neruda

Finding where I fit.

For as long as I can remember,

I have always been different.

It was the color of my skin.

It was the dysfunction of my surroundings.

It was the bruises that were hidden.

It was the electricity misfiring in my brain.

It was the chemical imbalance.

It was my sexual preferences.

For as long as I can remember,

I have always been myself.

Even when I was told not to,

I persisted.

I wanted to know who I was.

I found my passion.

I dedicated my life to art.

I dedicated my life to being better.

I stumbled upon a love unlike any love I’ve experienced before.

For as long as I can remember,

art has been in my heart.

This is it, this is where I fit.
